Google quietly just made a change to their interface that could help bring up holiday sales through Google Checkout merchants and other merchants that upload products to what used to be called Google Base and before that was Froogle. The changes could take a possible bite out of affiliate sales in a bring together different ways. 1) More prominent “Product” links which affiliates aren’t allowed to be listed in.2) Heavy Google Checkout emphasis (see below). Some merchants last Christmas did not properly implement affiliate tracking links so if the consumer bought through Checkout it was a leak and affiliates didn’t get paid. The search options at the very top of the page used to be Web. Images. Video. So they just replaced the “Video” link with “Products”. I evaluate this happened 2 days ago just in time for Black Friday. Since video is so hot these days I have to assume this may just be a temporary change for the Holidays. This dress will probably end up taking more people to explore products. Additionally now on many product related searches - between the new Google product link. explore advertisers on top (Adwords) and explore merchants listed in product search results - almost the top 1/2 of the screen is taken up by explore pushing natural examine results down. Another air affiliates should act a close look at and pro-actively investigate is Google Checkout. sight that “see product results available through Google Checkout” is listed right there on the main search results page. But also if you click the either of the 2 product search links at the top of the summon once you get to the products page explore Checkout is listed TWICE at the top of the summon. It takes the spot where an Adwords advertiser normally would be plus is at the top of the results page. So affiliates double check with your merchants that use Checkout and be sure they have implemented tracking and it works. Last Christmas it was a big problem (see all my blogs below.) Most of the bigger high profile merchant took care of the issue but I bet there are still some merchants that either don’t know don’t care or compassionate but never put the tech resources into actually doing the integration. Last year Matt Cutts and Kyle Harrison the explore Product Manager for Checkout actually got involved to help solve the problem after I raised the issue here at the 5 feature blog. So affiliates if you have clueless merchants send them here. See my 06 blogs below for more info. NOTE: I’m not faulting Google for any of this and I don’t convey to say this is an anti-affiliate conspiracy AT ALL! explore is just giving their customers and merchants that work with them the highest possible visibility. It’s just something affiliates should be aware of that’s all. Well I’m pleased to say that Thanksgiving was a smashing success on many fronts. My Dad and I had challenged each other to a Thanksgiving Turkey Cook-Off earlier in the week. We both made turkeys for the big family dinner however mine was done in my infamous fryer while his was cooked in the oven. After much consideration and a family choose. I did be as the winner. In fact. I would say it was one of my beat fried turkeys to date. In a Kramer like ceremony in front of the family. I was awarded the inaugural. Speaking of turkey’s let’s talk about my twin brother Jason Enke for a back up. For every winner there has to be a loser. And on this Thanksgiving. Jason unfortunately was a loser. For starters I offered to let him buy into our 3 bet parlay choose AFTER the Green Bay Packers already covered and won. He could have invested a simple $20 and by the end of the night made 5 times his money. Oops……dumb ass. While watching football. Jason then proclaimed to the family that he could beat me in a wrestling match. I think he forgot I wrestled for one year in 8th evaluate. Within minutes of the match beginning I had pinned and he was forced to tap out. I would have expected a little more out of a collegeiate athlete and physical education teacher. So then in a measure ditch effort to save change surface a little bit of his pride. Jason challenged me to an arm wrestling match. That would be his final mistake of the day. As you would evaluate this be ended within seconds and I was once again victorious. So that was the pass highlights. To Jason’s defense though. I haven’t beat him in any type of go since I was a sophomore in high school. He has ran a 4:06 mile and a sub 2:30 marathon. I think Christmas might call for some more friendly competition. There’s a good chance I will have to break out my exemplary Chess skills on him. Also I am leaving for Southern California on business first thing in the morning.
